Solar panels on your roof absorb the energy from the sun. The special surface of the panel(s) heats up glycol passing through tubes underneath. The glycol then flows into a coil within an insulated water cylinder. The hot coils act like an element and heats up the water within the cylinder.
The cylinder is normally located in your airing cupboard, but it’s also possible to put it in your loft or another storage area. It is specially designed to keep the water hot for a very long time. It means that you can have a hot shower in the morning, even before the sun is up, powered by yesterday’s sunshine.
Your Momentum Solar hot water system will work in tandem with your existing boiler. There are no switches to press or dials to adjust. Basically if there is hot water from the sun in the cylinder then hot water will come out of the tap. If the weather has been unkind then your water will be heated from your conventional boiler.
